The Jamia's Third Sheikhul Hadith

The Jamia's third Sheikhul Hadith was Hazrat Allama Hafez Harun Sahib (rahimahullah). He was born in 1929 in Shahnagar village, Chattogram. He completed his Hifz and studies up to the sixth-year class (Shashum) at Nazirhat Boro Madrasa, then continued from the fifth-year (Panjum) to second-year (Doyum) classes at Chattogram Jiri Madrasa, and afterward studied for two years at Hathazari Madrasa. For further higher studies he travelled to the renowned Darul Uloom Deoband in India, completing Dawra-e-Hadith there and studying Tafsir for a further year. He then completed his education and began his career, first teaching at a madrasa in the well-known town of Malda, India, where he taught Sahih Bukhari and Jami' at-Tirmidhi. He returned home a year later, taught for a time in Faridganj, Chandpur, and was then appointed a muhaddith at Lalbagh Madrasa, Dhaka, and afterward at Babunagar Madrasa, Chattogram. He then came to Jamia Islamia Obaidia, where he taught the lessons of Sahih Bukhari for a long 18 years. He passed from this world due to age-related illness on 29 July 2008.
